Salem Baptist Church, located 430 Rockford Rd., Dobson, NC is a caring and encouraging church family that seeks to make sure everyone has a chance to know Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord. Since they started streaming church services (both live and recorded) on the Internet, Salem had started experiencing problems with the upstream delivery of content, to their streaming provider, effecting the quality of the delivered stream. With more than ample bandwidth, everyone was left wondering what to do next.
Solution
When we first evaluated the physical network, it was clear that the existing equipment was not capable of supporting the full measure of available inbound or outbound bandwidth, furnished by the ISP, or provide functions for managing the allocation of resource consumption.
Possessing advanced network management capabilities, with 110 Mbps full DPI throughput, and able to handle 32,000 new connections a second, the Dell SonicWALL NSA 220 was the perfect bandwidth management solution for this endeavouring church's network. Complimented by an HP Aruba Series 2530-24G fully managed layer 2 switch, the NSA 220 was configured to pinpoint outbound streaming traffic from the video production station and prioritize it above all other traffic during scheduled times. In less than a day, we were able to deliver a bandwidth management solution that was capable of meeting their current needs, while still providing lots of room to grow in the future, using powerful, yet budget friendly components.
