Challenge
Established in 1959, Blue Ridge Enterprises, Inc. constructs all types of building projects, with projects ranging from thousands of dollars to millions. This general contractor, located in Mt. Airy, NC, needed to upgrade their Desktop and Laptop computers running Windows XP before the OS reached it's End-of-Support and upgrade its Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate management software to the latest version in order to maintain compliance with the vendor's SLA.
Solution
In just under two days, taking place over the weekend to eliminate downtime, we replaced a small number of Dell OptiPlex 760 desktops and several Dell Latitude Laptops with new OptiPlex 3090 Desktops and Latitude E6530 Laptops and migrated all users' working environment to Windows 7 Pro and Office 2013. Since the project was being conducted over the weekend, with no users being active on the network, it served to provide great opportunity to also upgrade the company's primary L.O.B. application, going from Sage Timberline Estimating and Accounting to the new Sage 300 CRE and Estimating, as well as provide space for upgrading Symantec Endpoint Protection from 11.x to 12.1 to the latest version.
